Front Beach Road Construction Project Continues

News

Construction continues on Front Beach Road as the 30 year CRA redevelopment project moves forward.

A section of Front Beach Road by South Thomas Drive is now open to drivers, providing some much needed relief in the busy intersection near Walmart. Traffic is currently shifted to the North lanes of Front Beach Road between South Thomas Drive and Churchwell Drive. Crews are placing 8 ft. sidewalks on both sides of the road, including trolley lanes, water and sewer improvements and more. The second phase from South Thomas Drive to Richard Jackson Blvd. is set to be complete by the end of spring.

“The work you will see from this point forward is more the finish work. All the work you’ve seen prior to this has been all underground and it really doesn’t show,” said Panama City Beach City Manager Mario Gisbert.

The city asks drivers to remain patient and drive slowly through work areas to avoid any accidents. The entire project started in 2002 and has a 30 year plan set to finish 2032.
