Former commissioner, Mike Nelson, dies unexpectedly

PANAMA CITY, Fla.– Sad news out of Bay County as Panama City Police confirm the death of a former Bay County commissioner. 

PCPD announced Saturday morning that Mike Nelson has died unexpectedly. 

Nelson served on the Bay County board of commissioners from 2004 until 2016. 

He acted as the representative for the District 1 seat and even served as chairman of the board a few times. 

Prior to 2004, Nelson also served as a member of the Panama City commission. Police responded to Nelson’s home Saturday morning. 

At this time, Panama City Police have not commented on the cause of death.
