Bay District School announced Tuesday that 1,200 students were impacted by a data breach at Florida Virtual School.

The statewide school provides online instruction for students from kindergarten through high school.

The school announced last month that an unauthorized user gained access to their system that stored personal information sometime between May 6, 2016, and Feb. 12, 2018.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI are investigating the breach.

Bay District is holding a news conference about the breach Tuesday afternoon. We will have more information about the situation tonight at 5 and 6.
