SOUTHPORT, Fla.-  Bay County firefighters and forestry officials are working to battle a woods fire just north of the ECP airport.

Officials were called to the scene shortly before 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon.

Smoke from the wildfire could be seen for miles. Officers on scene said as of 10 p.m. Sunday, it’s burned about 100 acres.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, the fire was 90% contained.

No structures are in danger and they’ve closed off Burnt Mill Creek road to bring in dozers.

3 forestry units were on the ground along with multiple fire trucks.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
