If you’ve driven through downtown Panama City lately you may have noticed some construction on an old vacant building. The old Grocery Outlet on Mackenzie Avenue and Business Highway 98 has been empty for some time. The city approved a development order for a family dollar at that location. Now, crews are working to renovate the space.
“One of the most exciting things about Family Dollar going into that building is that they will be making improvements to the exterior of the building that will give it a new fresh, clean look for that area. And of course anytime we can put a new business into a building that has been vacant for some time it’s a great thing for the community,” said Panama City public information officer Caitlin Lawrence.
The store could be open as early as the beginning of the summer but, there is no exact date yet.
