ECP Airport Welcomes American Airlines

BAY COUNTY, Fla. - The world's largest airline makes a landing at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.

American Airlines is up and running ready to take travelers to new destinations.

"We're glad to be here, we hope a lot of people are anxious to fly with us and we look forward to serving them," said Senior Vice President of Customer Service for American Airlines Eric Morgan.

They will serve travelers with nonstop flights to Dallas and Charlotte, the two largest hubs, opening the doors for more than 800 destinations and at least 30 countries. Passengers on the first inbound flight from Charlotte were greeted with a water cannon salute.

"Both flights are coming in full and going out are full so that's a great way to kick off the market," said airport Executive Director Parker McClellan.

Airport officials are proud of the new partnership.

"I think the American partnership has been a long time coming. They've recognized this is a market, and we will continue to work with them to enhance the service at this airport," said McClellan.

"This airport here, as you look around the facility, is one of the nicest ones we've had the opportunity to come in and bring service to in a while and anytime we have an opportunity to expand our services to a new community. It is an exciting day for us," said Morgan.

McClellan said that it won't stop at Dallas and Charlotte. They have more destinations and flight options in the works.

The airport is celebrating its 8th birthday this year and predict more growth in the future.
