Department of Justice Working to Combat Violent Crimes

Northwest Florida, Fla. - The Department of Justice is taking a dramatic step to increase resources to combat violent crime, enforce  immigration laws, and help roll back the devastating opioid crisis.  The U.S. Attorney Generals Office is using funds to create 311 new assistant U.S. Attorney positions nationwide...two of those will be added to the Northern District of Florida.

The two new AUSA positions allocated to the northern district of Florida will focus on violent
crime. U.S.. attorney Christopher Canova says his  office will use these two new positions to prosecute the
predators who terrorize local communities, and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions says  he is reassigning existing funds for the additional personnel on the 500th day of the trump administration.
