Coming soon to the area, a multi-million dollar healthcare facility. A local hospital saw a need to serve a great amount of patients. So, that’s what they are going to do.
The new facility will be located right here along Highway 98 at the entrance of WaterSound, between Santa Rosa Beach and Panama City Beach.
“The population is moving that way and we have an out-patient strategy where we want to be able to meet the access points for the new roof tops and for people to bring them high quality compassionate care,” shared Roger Hall, Sacred Heart on the Emerald Coast, President.
For residents in the WaterSound area, the is closest hospital is 20 miles west, which is Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach.
This new facility is expected to offer residents a wide range of health care and offer convenient access.
“It’s going to be around a couple million dollars once you look at the total investment that St. Joe is putting in and how that partner ship is going to work and then the start up costs,” said Hall.
The connection between Sacred Heart and the St. Joe Company dates back more than 18 years to when St. Joe donated land for the site of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
“There is a future of 1,300 future new homes in that area. So, we have reached out to St. Joe and we’ve continued out collaboration and partnership to continue to be able to put a primary care clinic with a primary care physician and a OB/GYN,” Hall told us.
Site plans will allow for future expansions as they grow for additional specialty care services and with new facilities, come new jobs.
“Eventually we will be about 12 jobs but if you look at now, this hospital when we opened, 16 years ago we opened with only 150 positions and now we are well over 700. So health care has grown and now we are the largest employer in Walton County,” said Hall.
Construction will begin in this fall and the anticipated completion date in 2019.
