A Chipola College employee is behind bars after being charged with solicitating an underaged student through social media.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation took place over the last few months.
Investigators say their investigation into 33 year old Joc Calloway’s actions started in February.
A dual enrolled student reported the inapproprate incident to a teacher at Chipola. The student reported that Calloway reached out to him via social media in January.
After a brief, casual conversation, Calloway reportedly advised the student that they could continue to communicate on another social media app.
Calloway reportedly sent an unsolicited inappropriate image of himself to the student, asking for a picture in return. The student declined.
Investigators say Calloway later invited the same student to his house during a lunch break asking for a sexual favor. The student declined.
Deputies say they discovered that Calloway was soliciting students for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts or having a relationship outside of school was not an isolated incident
Calloway, turned himself into the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon.
