BAY COUNTY, FL - Three area high school cheerleading squads are heading to competitions in the coming weeks, and they need your help getting there.
Arnold, Bay and Mosley high schools all have competitive cheerleading teams. Hurricane Michael derailed their normal fundraising efforts to pay for those trips.
The three schools are working together to put on a local competition fundraiser. It will be held at Arnold High School on Panama City Beach, Saturday January 12th at 6pm. Tickets are five dollars per person at the door.
Mosley Head Cheer Coach Kristen Samples says she hopes the community will rally behind these athletes.
"This is super important because a lot of our girls from all three schools, their families have lost everything. They're living with family members. They're traveling two hours away to come to practice, and they have really committed to finishing out this season even though all of us are in the same boat and they're about a month behind. Samples said, we do a lot of outreach in the community, so we're just asking for that back, for them to come help us"
The profits will be split between the three schools in upcoming regional, state and national competitions.
