Jackson County School’s superintendent, Larry Moore, announced his recommendation for the new Marianna High School principal.
Moore named Carlan Martin as the new principal, that will take effect Tuesday.
Martin earned a Masters of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.
He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Safety from Northeastern State University, and an Associate of Arts degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
He was first hired by the Jackson County School Board in 2002 and has taught at Sunland School and Marianna High School.
He was the Assistant Principal at Malone School in 2014 as well as Marianna Middle School in 2015.
Martin also taught for 18 years in other school districts in Florida.
The recommendation will be presented to the school board at the next meeting.
