Bay District to Shuttle Arnold Students from Parking Garage to Surfside Middle School

News

A second wave of Bay County schools reopened Tuesday. On Thursday Arnold High School and Surfside Middle School will follow suit sharing a campus but parking has been a concern for Arnold students.

Superintendent Bill Husfelt said Arnold students are to use the Wyndham parking garage on Front Beach Road which is about point 0.7 miles from Surfside. He said Beach Police will be there to help monitor security and they will offer bus shuttles for students to go from their car to campus. Arnold is currently being used as a shelter but the shelter population continues to decrease. Husfelt said the latest students will be back to Arnold is by the new year.

“There is a possibility of another lot we are trying to finalize but were right now in that parking garage but we feel pretty good about having a parking garage because it doesn’t get much safer or secure than that and to be able to keep them all in one site and get them back and forth quickly,” said Husfelt.

Arnold High School students should expect an update from Principal Keith Bland with more parking instructions sometime Wednesday.
