Bay District Schools postpones event, still giving away BBQ

News

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Bay District School officials announced Thursday that they are postponing Sunday’s outdoor community BBQ at Tommy Oliver Stadium, due to forecasted rain and storms.

However, Operation BBQ Relief, a national nonprofit, and volunteers will still be in town cooking up hot meals to serve to the community.

Anyone in the area is invited to pick up FREE meals for themselves and family members on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mosley High School (501 Mosley Drive, Lynn Haven.)

Organizers are also offering church congregations, community groups and other nonprofit organizations to submit large orders for group populations.

Those wishing to place a bulk order of 50 meals or more are urged to submit their request by email to: bdscomm@bay.k12.fl.us

The event will be rescheduled in August around the back-to-school timeframe.

The outdoor event was initially planned to serve as an appreciation party for all the hurricane heroes who came to assist Bay District Schools after Hurricane Michael.

Operation BBQ Relief will return in August for the event which is still being rescheduled.
