Bay District Plans to Clean Schools Wednesday

Bay District officials say they plan to clean schools Wednesday during a teacher workday.

“We continue to encourage all parents to keep children who are obviously sick, and those who have fevers, home from the school in order to prevent the spread of the flu,” officials wrote in a news release. “The CDC reports that the flu virus can ‘live’ on some surfaces for up to 24 hours.

So on Wednesday, while our students are out of school and our teachers are collaborating in PLCs, we will be disinfecting and cleaning commonly-used surfaces like door knobs and desks.”

Gulf County schools closed Friday for a massive cleaning effort in response to the flu.

This is a developing story and we will have more information both online and tonight at 5 and 6.
