Babies Born Post-Hurricane Michael

Hospitals are getting back up to speed and we’ve already had some babies born post-Hurricane Michael here locally.

Officials at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center said there have been 12 deliveries so far since opening on Thursday Nov 8th.

We had a chance to speak with some parents about what it was like to have a child here in town despite everything that has happened the past month.

“We’re glad to be here. Here especially, because Gulf Coast has a NICU unit where Silas is actually right now. He was born a couple of weeks prematurely, due to the stress and the storm he was a little light, and being in the NICU now is where he needs to be taken care of. We’re grateful not only that Gulf Coast is open for the day we needed to deliver him, but that the NICU was available to us as well,” said Zachary Degriff, father of newborn.

Congratulations to the new parents.
