PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport launched a new event to bring more traffic in and out of Panama City this summer.
Saturday was the airports first Super Summer Saturday.
Saturdays at Beaches International usually see an increase in flight activity.
Super Summer Saturdays will bring more flights from American Airlines and Southwest along with bigger airplanes from Delta and United Airlines in hopes to bring more tourism to the panhandle as well as give locals a better opportunity for a vacation.
"Any growth in Panama City is growth across the region. All the airports in the region are seeing growth which makes us all very happy because it gives us all other opportunities for additional passenger growth," said Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport Executive Director, Parker McClellan.
The airport also welcomed their first arrival and departure of the new direct Southwest flight to Denver with a water salute.
