A teenager who went missing five years ago may have written a letter to her parents, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Emily Paul was 14-years-old when she was last seen on April 13,2013. That day her mom, Pam Massimiani came home and found a note from Emily saying she was leaving and going to a safe place.

In an interview done three years ago with News 13, Bay County Sheriff’s investigators said that Paul told her parents she might contact them after she turned 18. Investigators added that Paul “had taught herself on how not to be found.”

Now, investigators are trying to determine if this new letter really is from Paul. Until she is located the case remains open, officials said.
