4th of July marks biggest day of the year for hot dog sales

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - July 4th is the biggest hot dog day of the year!

Local hot dog businesses have been gearing up for the big day. In fact, it's not just local businesses, it's people all over the nation.
There's even a national hot dog eating contest held annually on the 4th.

Wednesday, July 4th,  10 time hot dog eating champion, Joey Chesnut, will be competing in hopes to win for an 11th time. However, here in the Panhandle, we don't need 70 hot dogs to enjoy them, just a few.

Staff at Pops Dawg's in Panama City say this week has already been packed leading up to the  fourth.

"This week we certainly have and today, it's just booming. Everybody is getting their Hot dog on for the 4th of July," said Owner, Dottie Rainelli.

Pop's Dawgs will be open and serving up their specialty dogs on the 4th of July.
