30A Need for Swede Event Brings Community Together

The community came together to support someone in need.
30A’s ‘Need for Swede’ held at Arnett’s Gulfside Farm and Stables helped raise funds for a local man trying to recover from an incident overseas.
Jeff Swedenhelm, better known as Swede, fell over 30 feet from a rooftop.
Friends say a monkey captured his favorite hat, and he was trying to get it back.
Swede is currently in Asia trying to recover and get back to the us.
“He’s out of the hospital now and he’s doing rehab and is doing remarkably well for the situation and were raising money right now for him to come home,” said Jennifer Sundal, event organizer.
From the accident, Swede has severe damage to his spine.
“This will be years of him needing help so this is just the start of what the 30 a community wants to do for him,” said Sundal.
Recovery may be a long journey- but he definitely won’t be doing it alone.
Swede was previously a bartender on 30-a and a big supporter of local musicians.
Musicians who are now supporting his road to recovery.
“He had come out to so many shows of mine and booked so many shows as well and I’m happy to be here for him,” said Kyle Lamonica, local musician.
Nine bands performing in his honor.
“A lot of bands are here to support him because he supported all these bands for many years,” said Kyle Ogle.
For the band members of Dread Clampitt, they already have some things in mind for when Swede arrives.
The fundraiser not only had live music, but an auction with different items that were donated.
Swede, your friends have one thing to say to you-
“We love you, get better, and come back soon,” said Sundal.
