Triumph Gulf Coast helps in hurricane relief

Don't Miss

BAY COUNTY, Fla. — A group designed to help rebuild after the 2010 BP oil spill is now helping in Hurricane Michael relief.

Triumph Gulf Coast will be granting money to some hurricane impacted areas to help in the loss of property tax values.

At Tuesday morning’s Bay County Commission meeting, representatives from Triumph presented a grant of more than six million dollars to Bay County.

The money will be distributed to different cities within the county.

County manager Bob Majka says the different counties had to apply to receive this grant and with some being turned down, there may be some extra funds available.

“Again, the important thing there is there’s an opportunity for us to go back and talk to triumph about funds that were made available that have not been assigned to other counties to see if we can further reduce that burden on our residents here,” said Majka.

Panama city will receive about $750,000 dollars, Mexico beach more than $300,000 dollars and Lynn Haven will receive about $240,000 dollars.

The remaining of the funds are for other cities, county fire departments and different organizations within the county.
