BAY COUNTY, Fla. - Hundreds of residents filled the pews at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church to hear Presiding Bishop, Reverend Michael Curry, speak.
The reverend traveled from their national headquarters in New York to make the trip to Bay County.
The group shared laughter but also received lots of encouragement from the honored visitor.
One organizer says this was a great boost of hope for not only the congregation but the whole community.
"We're going to run this race with perseverance. I mean this is not a sprint, this is a marathon and the people of this area are strong and having the presiding bishop come in here and offer us hope and words of encouragement means the world to us, " said Rev. David Green, Director of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Marianna.
Also, Reverend Curry attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding.
