Sam joined the News 13 team in March of 2021 as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter. He grew up loving and playing sports from a young age, and turned his passion into his future career when he decided to talk sports for a living.
He spent three years at Troy University where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in sports information. Coming to work at WMBB was a homecoming as he was born and raised in Panama City.
In his time at Troy, he spent many hours working for TrojanVison News, one of the top student news stations in the southeast, as a sports anchor and reporter. He also did play-by-play and color cometary for the Troy volleyball team on ESPN plus.
For some of his work as a student reporter, he was named an award-winning journalist by the South East Journalism Conference in 2021.
In his free time, Sam loves to play basketball, go deep sea fishing, and watch college and professional sports, especially his Troy Trojans.
With much of his extended family being from Tampa and Indianapolis, some of his favorite sports teams include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Indiana Pacers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
