Kristen Kennedy

Kristen Kennedy joined the News 13 First Alert Storm Team in June 2021 following previous meteorologist roles in Little Rock, AR, and Macon, GA. She is a native of the metro Atlanta area.

Kristen’s passion for weather began at a very young age. It was in third grade that she decided she wanted to be a broadcast meteorologist. She attended Mississippi State University (#HailState) for four years, earning her Geoscience degree in professional meteorology with a broadcast emphasis.

During her time working in the southeast, Kristen has forecasted and experienced a wide range of weather events. Two major events she covered in Arkansas were the historic flooding of the Arkansas River in 2019 and the historic snowstorms of 2021. In Macon, Kristen had more frequent tropical forecasting and storms impacting the central part of Georgia. In 2018, Hurricane Michael maintained its Category 1 strength moving through central Georgia. Kristen spent nearly 20 hours on air tracking the storm through the area and informing the public of its threats and destruction. She can’t recall how many tornadoes she has tracked over the years…there’s been quite a bit in her career and lifetime

Outside of work, Kristen enjoys watching and playing sports, officiating girls lacrosse games, relaxing at the beach, reading, and volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association. She is so excited to call the Panhandle home!

Please welcome Kristen into your home on News 13 This Morning, Monday through Friday from 4:30-7:00 a.m. CT and again on News 13 Midday from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. CT.
