WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. - Wewahitchka High School held a pep rally Tuesday afternoon to introduce new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Bobby Johns.
He is taking over for Loren Tillman, who accepted the head coaching position at Rutherford High School last week.
Johns has already had two successful coaching campaigns in the Panhandle: first at Blountstown in 2004 and 2005, and then at Vernon in 2013 and 2014, taking both schools to the State Final Four during his tenure.
He says he feels his past experiences will help him build up the football team and the rest of Wewahitchka sports.
"I hope that the opportunities I've had to coach at the small schools, know how to build those programs, rally community support, and cross lines with athletes playing other sports to be able to get the numbers right,” Coach Johns says, “I hope that's going to help us. I just enjoy in small towns and the atmosphere, so I believe that my experience there will help give us an opportunity to maybe be successful."
