USFA World Series and College Showcase Begins This Week

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Sunday kicked off the first week of the USFA World Series and College Showcase.

This is the 19th year for the World Series, which is one of the largest softball tournaments in the South. It brings in hundreds of teams from all over the country; this year, the two-week tournament is hosting 135 teams.

Week one is featuring the 14, 16, and 18 age group, while week two is bringing in ages 8-12.

This year is the first time that USFA is having a college showcase format, bringing in coaches from colleges and universities across the country to scout out the young talent playing in PCB this week...

"This is the first year that we've switched to this college exposure format, and it was a big risk when we decided to do it, but we've gotten nothing but positive from all of the parents, all of the kids. We do not have a college exposure event in this region, so to bring that to this part of the market is really, really special for these kids. We're excited about it," said U.S. Fast Pitch National Director Robert Guerrero.

Coaches will be looking to get possible verbal commits and some girls will even be offered to sign on the spot.
