NICEVILLE, Fla. - The Northwest Florida Mens’ Basketball Team is undefeated, ranked #1 in the country, and now the real test about to begin.
The 16-0 Raiders have one last game on Tuesday against Coastal Alabama, before they travel to Pensacola on Saturday, January 6th to begin Panhandle Conference play.
The conference games are the ones that really matter when it comes to making the postseason.
Despite the Raiders success to this point, head coach Steve DeMeo says that is all in the past.
"I just told them, 'Listen, we're 16-0 now. The bottom like is it doesn't matter what you did before. It doesn't matter what's in the future. It's right now. You've got to practice well today. You've got to play well today. And that's all I care about. I don't care about the record before. I don't care about the record after. We've just got to get better every single day.' If we do that, it's going to take care of itself. And obviously everyone from down here knows Nick Saban - it's the process and that sort of thing, but it's really the truth. It's about taking care of business right in front of you."
While the Raiders will be in Pensacola next Saturday, Gulf Coast men and women will be hosting Tallahassee. Chipola begins their conference slate January 9th in Tallahassee.
