Scholar Athlete of the Week - Geoffrey Lancaster

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - This week's Scholar Athlete sponsored by Bill Cramer Chevrolet is Mosley's Geoffrey Lancaster!

You may recognize Mosley's Geoffrey Lancaster from the gridiron or the diamond.
"This is the first year I played football. When I got done football, I had a little bit of a break and then I got into baseball late December, early January," said Lancaster.

No matter what field you find him on, Lancaster is a known leader.

"I'm not much of a vocal leader. I'm more of a 'show and do' leader. So that's the way that I show it. Just by actions," said Lancaster.

"Geoffrey's gonna do what it takes for us to win. That's what he's all about. That's the kind of young man you like to coach. We're really lucky to have Geoffrey on our team," said Mosley Baseball Head Coach Jon Hudson.

Lancaster credits his success to his supportive role model.

"My dad's one of the biggest ones. He's one of my biggest inspirations in my life, really. He never misses a game, no matter how far the distance is. He takes me to summer ball from Arizona to New York, so I've been able to do that," said Lancaster.

Lancaster is equally as dedicated in the classroom, having both AP and college courses on his transcript.

"Whenever I get done with football and baseball, it's straight to school.I go to school, go to football and baseball. After that, it's straight to school," said Lancaster.

"When you're playing football and baseball, those are two really time consuming sports. His days, pretty much every day, after school are full. The time constraints that he has and the time management skills that he's put into use are gonna just help him in the future," said Hudson.

Lancaster has big plans for after high school. He plans to major in business or sports management, while also continuing his athletic career.

"Right now, I have Southern Miss and Troy for football and then, hopefully, I'll have some options for baseball," said Lancaster.

"Wherever he ends up and whatever sport he wants to play, he's gonna be a success. With the work ethic that he's displayed here for us at Mosley is gonna bode well for him in the future," said Hudson.
