LYNN HAVEN, Fla. - We are a week out from the beginning of the high school baseball season, and local powerhouse Mosley High is hoping to make another deep playoff run in their hunt to finally bring home a State Title.
The Dolphins have finished as State Runner-Up in three of the last four seasons, each time losing to Archbishop McCarthy in the title game.
This year they're looking to finish the job.
They lost a few players off of last year's squad, including much of the heart of their lineup, but return seven seniors.
The strength of this team, especially early on, will be pitching. They have their ace coming back in Nicky Agosto, who led the state in wins last year. Agosto, Michael Cullen, and Peyton Millirons will anchor the top of that pitching staff.
On offense, RJ Yeager will lead off as their on-base machine. Michael Cullen led the Dolphins in almost every offensive category last season, and he'll try to drive Yeager in. Justin Kelly will help round out that lineup.
As the Dolphins try to fill the rest of their open positions, Head Coach John Hudson says the bar has been set high for the team.
"Our senior class has been there and done that,” Coach Hudson says, “These guys have been State Runner-Up two years in a row now, and now they're coming back for their senior year. I think for us it's the same goal every year. We want to win our district, have a District Championship, and of course make it to the Final Four and win that last game one time."
