One of our area's best all-around athletes, Richie McClanahan, has announced his intentions to head up to Pennsylvania to continue his wrestling career.
Over the weekend the Arnold senior verbally committed to Penn State after a visit.
In his Marlin career, he owns one State Championship as a sophomore and finished third in the state in the 132 weight class this spring as a junior.
The Big Ten is the premiere conference for division one wrestling, and Penn State is the top wrestling school in the country, seeing as they've won five of the last six National Championships.
This opportunity is something for which he’s waited a long time.
"I can remember my first time going to Penn State camps, seeing the guys and they looked like super heroes,” he says, “I told my dad, 'that's where I am going, I am going to Penn State' and he probably didn't take me too seriously then but its crazy that my dream actually came true."
