PANAMA CITY, Fla. - On Monday afternoon, Bozeman senior River Houck signed a full-ride rodeo scholarship with Howard College in Big Springs, Texas.
Houck has been associated with rodeo his whole life, specifically as a tie-down calf roper the last seven years, and is a member of Tri-State Rodeo Association and the Professional Cowboy Association.
He worked hard to earn this scholarship, either winning or placing in over 65 rodeos in his high school career.
Four different times, he's qualified to compete on the national level all around the country.
When it came down to it, River knew Howard College was the place for him.
"I had other offers, but it just seemed like a really good school,” Houck says, “I really liked the coach. He seems like a really nice guy. It's a good family, a close together operation. I like something small."
Congratulations to River on this well-deserved achievement.
