It’s time to reveal our first Game of the Week of the season.
Two schools that are building a bit of a rivalry –. The Arnold Marlins hosting the South Walton Seahawks.
Arnold quarterback Cade Ledman is approaching week one with a business-like attitude.
"We try to have the same expectation for any team,” Ledman says, “From Mosley, Bay, even South Walton - we look at them the same. And we want to give the same effort for any team for any given reason."
These are both teams with playoff aspirations this season.
Arnold will be looking to clean up some mistakes on offense. They only put up a single touchdown in the jamboree against Marianna. Ledman says the team is aiming for 35 points this week.
Their defense looked great in pitching a shut out.
For South Walton, this is their first game up in Class 4A. They moved up from 1A this offseason.
For them, playoff points are on the line. A win against 5A Arnold would be a great start to the season.
South Walton has a penchant for pulling off the upset as well, beating both Walton and Blountstown last season.
Both head coaches have great respect for their opponent.
"They have a very good quarterback, very good running back, big on the line, very aggressive on defense, so those are things... we like the challenge,” South Walton Head Coach Phil Tisa says, “We're not afraid of it. We're looking out to going out and trying to push ourselves."
"They're going to be hungry,” Arnold Coach Josh Wright adds, “They're hungry, they've practiced, they do summers, two-a-days, they do the whole thing. We're going to get the best South Walton team they've got so that's what we look forward to."
We will have highlights of our Game of the Week and the rest of the high school games on Friday Night Fever, starting at 10:15.
