CHIPLEY, Fla. - We're at the midway point of high school football, and there are still two undefeated teams in our area.
One of those is the Chipley Tigers off to a 5-0 start on the season and looking to keep it going.
The Tigers began the season with two close wins over Marianna and Graceville, and then have beaten Bozeman, Vernon, and Cottondale the last three weeks.
Now they're on their bye week resting up and getting healthy.
Coach Blake Wilson says a big reason they're undefeated is the defense getting big stops late in key moments. It also traces it back to the off-season, where the team had an “all in” mentality.
They came into the summer ready to play, and now handling each new opponent as they come.
"It feels good to win, but every week is a new week, and you've gotta take every week one week at a time,” Coach Wilson says, “Hopefully we can continue to be successful and the kids keep playing the way they have been. We'll just keep going with it, and hopefully we can be successful."
