EASTPORT, Fla. - Up next on 21 Teams in 21 Days is Franklin County, a team looking to reinvent themselves in 2017.
Another member of the Apalachicola River Valley Conference, Tony Yeomans is taking over as head coach this season. He played college ball at Florida State under Bobby Bowden and then in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers.
He's trying to breathe new life into the program. Franklin County went just 1-7 a year ago, but this year's team has put that in the past.
Senior running back Dalyn Sheridan will be a focal point on offense along with Jack Harris at wide receiver.
Two players on the defense coach is really excited about are his two inside linebackers who he say are among the best he's ever coached.
The Seahawks have won just four games the past four seasons, but coach Yeomans says that is all about to change.
"When I first took this job, everyone said 'Why'd you go to Franklin?' Well, why not? When Coach Bowden started at Florida State, he started with nothing,” Coach says”, We had to build that program. We're building this program brick by brick. My goal is to make this playoffs – whether it be this year or next year. It's not gonna be long from now. I said, "Well, why not us?" So our motto this year from Franklin County is "Why Not Us." Why not Franklin County? Why can't we put Franklin County on the map?"
Tomorrow on 21 Teams in 21 Days, we will look at the Port St. Joe Sharks.
