Woman Found Dead at Packing House; Deputies Seeking Person of Interest

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. - Jackson County Sheriff's deputies are now investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead behind an old packing house.

"Deputies responded and in fact found a black female deceased," said JCSO Capt. Scott Edwards.

Authorities said she was discovered just before 11 a.m. on Thursday near Old U.S. Road and Plainview Road.

It's a few miles from Malone.

"Some of the workers discovered it while they were here this morning," said Edwards.

Investigators identified the woman as Kaycha Smith, 25, from Marianna.

They also have a person of interest, a black male, Daimeyon Dontrell O'Neal, 22, from Marianna.

"My understanding it's an estranged boyfriend," said Edwards.

Authorities believe O'Neal was last seen in the victim's vehicle.

"He may have some relatives over in the Washington County, Chipley area, and may possibly be on a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, gray in color," added Edwards.

Investigators said the Florida tag is registered as 7110HD.

"Just trying to locate this person of interest, and the vehicle. The vehicle actually - 2004 Chevy Malibu - belongs to the victim," said Edwards.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Jackson County Crimestoppers at 526-5000.
