PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Learning math while modeling the catwalk collide for students at West Bay Elementary School.
The school held its first geometry fashion show Friday. Fourth and fifth grade students designed outfits inspired by different shapes and sizes.
"I learned that you can find geometry in any design that you can make," said 4th grade student Meadow Mitchell.
"I choose to do a suit, instead of a tuxedo I did a super suit," added 4th grade student Joseph Burke.
Geometry is normally a lesson the students learn at the end of the school year, and is a low score subject in standardized testing.
Fourth grade math and science teacher Ashley Champagne says the fashion show keeps the curriculum rigorous while also incorporating a little twist to learning.
"The best way to teach kids is to give them an experience with something so we know that they would remember all of these key terms like parallel lines, perpendicular lines," said Champagne.
Champagne says the students are judged, and a winner will be announced next Tuesday.
The designs will actually be sewn for the student to wear.
