Donations are now being accepted through the Walton County Sheriff's Office for their 2nd Annual Backpack Drive.

The Sheriff's Office started this program last year, collecting all kinds of school supplies for local children. They're also holding an internal friendly competition of sorts. People wishing to help can bring their donations to the Sheriff's Office and Substations during normal business hours.

"I cannot tell you - we had offices full of backpacks," said Corey Dobridnia, the Public Affairs Coordinator. "People stuffing backpacks. And you know, the look on these kids faces when they pick them up and there's a Brock Lesner on the front of the backpack or a WWE wrestler and it's a brand new bag, they just love it. They love it."

The Sheriff's Office will be holding two separate pick up events on August 5th. The first is at 9 a.m. at the DeFuniak Springs Teen Club. The second is at 2 p.m. at the South Walton Youth Club.
