DeFuniak Springs, Fla. - A new school year is right around the corner and the Walton County Sheriff's Office is gearing up to give back, with a little friendly competition. Walton County is hosting its 3rd Annual Pack the Backpack School Supplies Drive.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office and competing agencies are collecting supplies to benefit children in need in the community, as they prepare to go back to school this fall. All of the inner agency bureau's are racing to gather as many back packs and school supplies as they can. They need items like pens, pencils and notebooks.
"We've go a lot of kids in our community that don't have the vital things that they need to head back to school and this is just an opportunity for us to relieve some of the parent's stress before the school year starts and to give our kids that confidence," said Corey Dobridnia, Walton County Sheriff's Office, Public Information Officer.
If you would like to donate school supplies, drop them off at the north or south end sub-stations by July 28th, then on July 29th, the Walton County Sheriff's Office will be handing out those donated supplies to area families.
