Much needed upgrades come to a boat launch and park in the western part of Walton County.

"This may be one of the few where you can launch a boat at the moment," said Commissioner Sara Comander.

They held a re-dedication Monday for Choctaw Beach Park. Recent updates include brand new restroom facilities, playground equipment and docks in the water for tying up boats.

"You know, things like this are good for visitors, I mean visitors can take advantage of this, but also the community as a whole," said Jay Tusa, the Executive Director for Visit South Walton.

For the future, it could mean potentially putting in a splash pad.

"We've got to see if there's room, if we have the money," said Comander. "They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it's taken a village to make this possible."

Most of the money to fund the upgrades came from grants and recreational plat fees.
