Update: FHP Looking for Dark-Colored Toyota in Deadly Hit-and-Run

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are still looking for a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run Saturday night.

The wreck happened on Back Beach Road (Hwy 98) near Gulf View Drive around 7:40 p.m.

An unknown black or blue 2013 Toyota Prius that was stopped in the median pulled out in front of a Honda motorcycle, driven by Robert Smith, 52, of Panama City, according to troopers.

The wreck caused Smith and his passenger Rebecca Summar, 23, of Benton, Arkansas to fall off the motorcycle.

Troopers said Summar was then run over and killed by a Lexus E5350, driven by Jefferson Strong, 58, of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Smith was transported to Bay Medical Sacred Heart where he is recovering from serious injuries.

Troopers said the Prius will likely have heavy damage to the front end. Anyone with information on the suspect vehicle is asked to call Cpl. Ellis at (850) 768-2427, (850) 873-7020, or by dialing *FHP (347).

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are looking for a blue or black Toyota vehicle that was reportedly involved in a deadly wreck.

The wreck happened around 7:45 p.m. on Back Beach Road near Gulf View Drive on the west end of Panama City Beach.

It involved the unknown Toyota, another vehicle, and a motorcycle, according to troopers.

Troopers said one person on the motorcycle was killed in the wreck. A second person was transported to Bay Medical Sacred Heart in serious condition.

Troopers believe the Toyota involved will likely have significant damage to the front end.
