Two killed, two injured in single vehicle I-10 wreck

GRAND RIDGE, Fla. - A single car crash on I-10 in Jackson County claimed the lives of a teenaged driver and his father.

The wreck happened around 8:45 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate near the Grand Ridge exit, Mile Marker 151.

A family of four from Homestead, FL was traveling to the western Panhandle in a Toyota 4Runner, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver Mitchell Lai, 18, drove off the interstate then overcorrected which caused the vehicle to rollover into the median.

Mitchell and Hai Tung Lai, 69, died from their injuries. Sjui Tho, 56 and David Lai, 19, received minor injuries in the wreck.

The wreck happened around 9:45 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate near Mile Marker 151 - Grand Ridge.

Troopers said the driver of the car drove off the interstate then overcorrected which caused the vehicle to rollover into the median.

There were four people in the car. Two people died from injuries they received in the wreck. The other two were taken to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.

Troopers are also investigating a secondary crash that happened about two miles west on the interstate. A semi-truck ran over a loose tire from the car, and it became lodged under the semi. The truck driver was not injured in the wreck.
