Tropical Depression 9 is moving into the southeast Gulf this morning.

As it continues westward over the next 24 hours, it is likely to strengthen, perhaps developing into a tropical storm as early as late tonight.

Models are still disagreeing somewhat in regards to the eventual track and intensity of the system, but we are expecting a turn to the north-northeast over the next 2-3 days.

Most, if not all, of the impacts from this storm (heavy rain & gusty winds) will be displaced to the east of its center, so be advised that a track through the Big Bend or anywhere to the east would result in very little impact for The Panhandle.

A track a little further west though would mean a much more significant impact for the local area.

A lot of folks are looking forward to the holiday weekend and you'll be happy to hear that we do expect any direct impacts to be long gone by then.

Folks are encouraged to monitor the progress of this system over the next few days.
