PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A Bay County teacher is under fire and under investigation after she allegedly called some of her students "cretins" in a Facebook post.
Susan Creamer, a teacher at Merritt Brown Middle School wrote in an Atheists of Bay County group that a group of students in her middle school class have been taking turns leaving flyers anonymously inviting her to church events and loudly saying "God bless you!" anytime a student sneezes and then looking in her direction.
"I am feeling bullied and harassed," she wrote. "It has become intolerable."
School officials tell News 13 that they are conducting an investigation into the matter and that information about the investigation will be available at a later date.
In a statement, district officials wrote, "Bay District Schools prides itself on providing a safe, protected environment for all students at all times. Teachers are encouraged and trained, to keep clear boundaries between their personal and professional lives to ensure that the classroom remains a neutral and supportive environment."
They also wrote, "This training and related School Board policy includes guidelines for interactions on all social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook. We do not condone the use of disparaging comments about our students in any form, on any social media platform or in any school."
