Calhoun County, Fla. - A suspect is recovering and will face multiple charges after being shot by law enforcement officers, Calhoun County Officials said Tuesday.
Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies said they were involved in a pursuit at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday. According to a news release deputies were following 31-year-old Rickie Kincer from Altha Florida, who failed to stop his vehicle for a law enforcement official.
"During the pursuit, Kincer, through the use of his vehicle, threatened to do bodily harm to law enforcement officials," deputies wrote. "Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office personnel discharged their weapons in an attempt to protect themselves from Kincer’s assault."
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has requested that Florida Department of Law Enforcement conduct an investigation of the incident, as is standard procedure when an officer is required to discharge a firearm while performing law enforcement duties.
The case remains under investigation.
