Suspect Faces Multiple Charges After Multi-County Chase

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A suspect is in custody after taking panhandle law enforcement on a high-speed chase Monday afternoon on Highway 77.

Washington County Sheriff's deputies wrote in a news release that 38-year-old David Allan Anderson of Santa Rosa Beach was formally charged Tuesday after being treated for injuries he sustained after crashing his car at the end of the chase.

Sheriff Kevin Crews said the pursuit began in Seminole County, Ga. when the suspect came into Jackson County, onto I-10 and then into Washington County where he wrecked his car and the chase ended. He added that deputies found large amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, pills and three firearms.

Anderson was booked into the Washington County jail. He charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while engaged in a criminal offense, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Walton County officials have also charged Anderson with trafficking in methamphetamine over 200 grams.
