BAY COUNTY, Fla - A south Florida man has been arrested in connection to multiple car burglaries across Bay County.
According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old David Lee Smith, of Pompano, Florida, was arrested in Broward County and extradited to Bay County yesterday.
On September 25 through September 28, 2016, the BCSO recieved multiple reports of car burglaries. Most of the the burglaries involved the windows of the vehicles smashed to gain access to valuables that were left in plain sight. Then the checks that were stolen from purses were cashed at local financial institutions.
Due to evidence collected at the scenes, investigators issued a warrant for Smith.
He is facing multiple charges including Principal to Attempting to Use the ID of Another Person and Burglary of an occupied Conveyance.
Additional charges are expected as investigators believe Smith may be connected to other car burglaries in Walton County and cases in Panama City.
