PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - A local mom decided to surprise her children Friday morning. She drove straight from the airport to her children's schools after completing more than a year of overseas deployment in the Air Force.
"They have no idea," said Master Sergeant Joi Washington. "I just want to do something big for them. They've been troopers throughout my deployment so I want to make it special for them."
Her children attend school at Hutchison Beach elementary and Surfside Middle. The surprises went off great with her children Journee, Justyce and Jazmyn.
"You have to be selfless," said Washington. "So to give a little piece of yourself and try to balance life and military. It's a challenge but it's worth it."
Washington said the first thing she would like to do with her kids is go on a spa day. She also said she plans to stay home for a while to spend time with her children.
