Severe Weather School Closings

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Any closings related to Wednesday's predicted severe weather will be listed below.

Tyndall Air Force Base

Base officials have authorized all non-essential personnel to be released early due to severe weather. The
release became effective at 11:30 a.m. today.

There is a likelihood of winds greater than, or equal to, 51 knots, a possibility of tornados, and a potential for 3/4 inch hail.

Col. Michael Hernandez, 325th Fighter Wing commander, issued the authorization to subordinate Tyndall commanders granting them discretion to determine essential and non-essential personnel.

Tyndall civilian employees will be on administrative leave.

All base facilities with the exception of the Berg-Liles Dining Facility will be closed and will resume normal operations tomorrow.

The Child Development Center will close, but will remain open until all children are picked up.

All appointments at the 325th Medical Group are being canceled for the day. All pharmacies are closed. Scheduled appointments will resume tomorrow.

The Base Commissary is closed.

The Tyndall Base Exchange services will be closing at 1400. The Class 6 and Felix Lake Shoppettes have already closed.

• Holmes County

Holmes County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, April 5 due to the threat of severe weather throughout the day. All after-school activities and WINGS programs are canceled. This decision is based on information received from local, state, and national Emergency Management offices and the National Weather Service. The safety of our students and employees is our top priority.  We encourage everyone to monitor weather alerts closely and stay safe in this storm.

• Bay County

School for Wednesday, April 5 will be canceled.  All practices, events, contests, games, etc., are to be canceled as well. While the weather in the morning may not be as bad, the early afternoon possibilities of tornadoes would make it more worrisome for a regular or early release.  In addition, the flooding that occurred yesterday has made it more challenging for the dirt road residents and buses.

All Bay District Schools and offices will resume regular operations tomorrow, Thursday, April 6th.
