PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A Bay County woman loses her life on Highway 231 this afternoon following a four car collision.
The crash occurred around 3:15 on Highway 231 near Transmitter Road. Panama City Police say 56 year-old Brenda Head was fatally injured when her 2006 Chevrolet crashed into the rear of a large box type truck as it was slowing down for traffic.
Police say Head was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Bay District School Superintendent Bill Husfelt says that Head was a para professional at Lucille Moore Elementary School. He says grief counseling will be set up for those in need at the school next week.
The area of the accident tied up traffic for several hours, but police say the highway is clear tonight. The accident remains under investigation.
