School Resource Officer Under Investigation After She Forgets Gun in Faculty Bathroom

Okaloosa County, Fla. - A school resource officer inadvertently left her service weapon inside a faculty bathroom off-limits to students, Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies wrote in a news release.

"The weapon was there less than five minutes before the officer realized she had not put it back on her belt after placing it on a shelf approximately six feet above the floor," deputies wrote. "She was on her way to retrieve it when a parent noticed it inside the faculty bathroom at Elliot Point Elementary School around 9:10 a.m. while looking for paper towels."

The SRO reported the incident immediately to her supervisors. Officials added that an inquiry is underway and no students were at risk.
