PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The Gulf of Mexico was closed to swimmers Friday after local first responders and lifeguards pulled more than a dozen people of the water.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office posted double red flags midday Friday. Anyone in violation of the county ordinance closing beaches during the posting of double red flags is subject to arrest.
News 13s Chief Meteorologist Justin Kiefer said the conditions should improve Saturday and Sunday.
However, beachgoers should always check the flags before entering the water. Beach warning flags are posted about every half mile along the sandy beaches of Bay County.
